File Transfer Protocol

FTP: ftp://bitmovers.com/pub/spitz/

Working directly from your CAD data can save time and money, and file transfer is quick and easy. Follow our simple suggestions for effective electronic data transfer:

  1. If your CAD files are relatively large (>500KB or so), you may want to compress them first with a program such as Winzip (www.winzip.com) or PKZip (www.pkware.com). Compressing your files will allow them to be transferred more quickly if you have a slower speed connection. You can also transfer multiple files (CAD data, text files, spreadsheets, etc) in one compressed file.
  2. We can handle data in the following formats:
    • IGES (wireframe, surfaces, and solids)
    • Pro/E
    • Parasolid
    • ACIS SAT
    • DXF
    • DWG
    • CADL
    • CADKEY .prt
    • STL (SLA)
  3. Though not always necessary, 2D layouts or other documentation can be helpful, even if you are supplying 3D data.
  4. If you're new to electronic file transfer, we can recommend a couple of FTP clients: FTP Voyager (www.ftpvoyager.com) or WS_FTP (www.wsftp.com).
  5. Please call if you experience difficulties — we're here to help you!
